Large folio (660 by 450mm) letterpress title with imprint printed on separate paper and pasted on, contents leaf and 51 charts of which 24 are folding and 27 double page, comprising 81 sheets, chart 45 with some stains, 47 & 48 with some loss, world and Egypt in full early wash colour as usual, with two extra charts not listed in the contents leaf but their position marked with an asterisk, full contemporary calf, rebacked with blind ruled raised bands, each compartment with central gilt decorative device, ornate gilt red calf title label.

William Heather (1764-1812) started business in 1793, as a publisher and dealer in charts and nautical instruments. He had learnt is trade from the chart publisher and teacher of navigation John Hamilton Moore, with whom he resided for five years. Heather's premises were based on the same street as the East India Company, at 157 Leadenhall Street, under the sign of the 'Little Midshipman', later known as the 'Navigation Warehouse'.
