Engraved title page and 87 engravings, numbered 2-88. Maps 4, 28, 33, 40, 58, 63, 74; misbound; map [64] unnumb. Light dampstaining to corners of maps 64-72, mostly confined to margins but slightly encroaching on plates as well. Occasional slight abrasions to maps (eg 38, 63, 81); a few minor marginal repairs and scattered staining, mostly marginal. Title and engravings finished in vibrant contemporary or near-contemporary hand-colouring; map [64] in later color. Oblong 4to. [10.5" x 7.5" text block], bound in early limp vellum with early manuscript title on cover ("Turchia, 1535"), many maps reinforced at gutter at an early date. Generally in very good condition overall.

Rare. A superb and complete copy of the first and only edition of this maritime atlas providing detailed coverage of the theatre of war during the Ottoman-Ventian conflicts of 1570-3.
