As an undertaker, Edward Walbancke was undoubtedly aware of his own mortality, as proven by the fact that he was included, in 1778 and 1783, in a 'List of the Members of the Corporation of the Amicable Society', which is considered the first life insurance company in the world. Sadly, Walbancke died at only 51 in 1784, upon which he was laid to rest in the family vault in Edmonton.
