Large folio (26 3/8 x 17 1/4 inches). Letterpress title (verso blank) and 2pp. contents list, otherwise engraved throughout. 44 charts on 61 sheets (2 sheets folding with flaps, 42 folding, 11 double-page, 1 single page, four 1/2 or 3/4 page sheets tipped onto the verso of other maps). Contemporary half calf over marbled paper-covered boards, all covered in a contemporary canvas sail-cloth chemise, remnants of three pairs of cloth ties to the fore-edge of the chemise.

A very rare copy of Norie's atlas of charts to the sea-routes to India, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand: this copy used aboard ship in a trading voyage to India and China.
