The map was produced by the Israel Defence Forces, and shows oil fields, pipelines and related infrastructures, naming the multitude of American, European and local companies vying for business in the shifting geopolitical situation arising in the aftermath of the Suez Crisis. Named companies include "Bahrain Petroleum Company", "Anglo-Saxon Petroleum", "Dhofar Cities Service Petroleum Co.", "Khanaqin Oil Company", "Arabian-American Oil Company", "Kuwait Oil Company", "Socony Mobil Oil Company", and "Egyptian-German Oil Company".
